July 2010

Dear Church Family,

This month will be an exciting month here at LIBC! On July 4, an ensemble from West
Coast Baptist College will be with us, and we’ll focus on the freedoms we have in Christ.
Then, our juniors will go off to Junior Camp at Hoosier Hills! Begin praying now that they
will fall in love with their Creator and Redeemer at a young age. The leadership team
will also head out to Lancaster Baptist Church for a spiritual leadership conference. On
July 18, Dr. Reese from Pensacola Christian College will speak to us in Lifestages about
David Livingstone. He will also preach in the main service a message entitled, “Whatever
Happened to the Good Ship of the Family.” That same evening, our teens will leave for
Trinidad on a missions trip. The sermon series throughout this month will focus our
attention on the Glory of God in the Daily Grind of life. I pray your view of Christ will
be so illumined by the Spirit of God that you will declare His glory everywhere you go!

June 2010

Dear Church Family,

As you look at the church calendar this month, you will notice that something is happening every week!  We begin with our evangelistic outreach of Vacation Bible School, where we will gear our nights around this gospel-driven outreach.  Then, our teenagers will go off to camp to sit under the preaching ministry of Dr. Jim Schettler.  As they arrive home, our Crossroads class will leave for their first missions trip to serve with Erik and Holly Johnson in the Dominican Republic.  Add in Missions Emphasis Sunday, a church picnic, Father’s Day, and a Family Focus Sunday—and the month is full of church activity!  Will you purpose with me now that you will allow it to be God-centered church activity?  Study with me God’s greatness in nature this month and let us together declare His Glory!

May 2010

The month of May will further teach us how God the Father receives glory. First of all, we will see that Christ expected His followers to love one another and flee the world to witness with the Spirit. We’ll enjoy the celebration of Mother’s Day, followed by a “Ladies in Missions” Sunday. (I believe you will admire both God-called ladies who will be with us and be encouraged by their vision to boldy declare the name of Jesus.) We will then learn to magnify the Son of God as individual believers and as a church body. From there, we will note God’s grace growth in the graduation of our academic students, and the month will conclude with observing the glory of God through His people.

April 2010

April possesses the pinnacle celebration day for a Christian—Easter. On this day
we worship God for His unthinkable, impossible, and incredible work of bringing His
Son back to life, never to die again! We’ll begin the month with our cantata, The Centurion.
Then we will journey with Christ and see the transforming power of the Gospel as
His disciples are taught that the goal of salvation is the glory of God. We will finish up
with Jesus in His final hours before death and listen as He tells His disciples that God is
seeking to create little “Christ-ones” in His very image. We will learn that as we are
transformed into the very image of Christ, we are able to declare the glory of God!
Read attentively, listen intentionally, and live purposefully this month as we Declare His
Glory among the nations!
