Monthly Devotionals

Week #1 - God’s Glory in the Church Through Right Purpose (September 1-4)

Day Text Devotional Thought
Thursday Eph. 3:10 God’s plan to make His amazing wisdom known
through the function of His local church.
Friday Acts 2:41-42 It is important that the church teaches right doctrine and is
a place for good Christian fellowship among its members.
Saturday Heb. 10:25 People need to remain faithful to the house of God, as God directly
commands it. The church is one of the greatest agents for spiritual
growth for a Christian, but it can only help you if you come.

Week #2 - God’s Glory in the Church Through Right Development (September 5-11)

Day Text Devotional Thought
Sunday Sermon Texts Discuss the messages heard in both services today. Dads, ask your children what they learned in Sunday School and Junior Church.
Monday Matt. 28:19-20 We normally think of the Great Commission as going and
giving the Gospel, but please note the end result is a
DISCIPLED believer who has been developed by the church.
Tuesday 2 Timothy 2:2 The church is to produce disciples by continually passing on the
truth of the Bible from one person to the next. Are you currently
being discipled or discipling someone else? If not, why not?
Wednesday Sermon Texts We encourage fathers to pray with each
member of their family individually tonight.
Thursday Psalm 1 This is one of the greatest passages on Bible saturation. We must
help new members and newly saved individuals to see the
importance of being saturated with the Word of God.
Friday Phil. 1:27 We must strive together for the sake of the ministry in helping
young believers to become deeper in their faith. Dads,
talk with your children about practical ways to do this.
Saturday Eph. 5:25-28 Christ’s ultimate goal is to present His spotless, perfect church to His
Father. We must make sure our game plan lines up with His.

Week #3 - God’s Glory in the Church Through Right Member Involvement (August 12-18)

Day Text Devotional Thought
Sunday Sermon Texts Discuss the messages heard in both services today. Dads, ask your children what they learned in Sunday School and Junior Church.
Monday Eph. 4:7-16 This week we are going to study the role of a church member
as seen in this text. Tonight, just read and pray over it as a
family and ask God to help you understand it this week.
Tuesday Eph. 4:71-6 Verse 7 makes clear that the ascended Christ gave gifts to the church.
Talk with your family about what their gift to the church might be.
Wednesday Sermon Texts We encourage fathers to pray with each
member of their family individually tonight.
Thursday Eph. 4:7-16 Verse 11 shows us it is the role of the pastor (as well as other gifted
men) to perfect the saints. What does it mean to “perfect the saints”?
Friday Eph 4:7-16 Pastors are to perfect the saints so they
(members/saints) can do the work of the ministry.
How do members do the work of the ministry?
Saturday Eph 4:7-16 Verses 13-16 challenge us with unity, being grounded
in the faith, speaking the truth in love, and everyone
working together. Dads, talk to your children about how this
concept works in your home for the sake of the church.

to detect error and is a faithful witness of the truth.
Wednesday Sermon Texts We encourage fathers to pray with each
member of their family individually tonight.
Thursday John 13:34-35 Many times we show our commitment to the local
church by our commitment to loving one another and
looking out for the spiritual condition of one another. How are
you, as a family, looking out for the needs of those around you?

and opens their heart to the leadership of the church.
